Back to Conan’s words that saved me from being angry:

I really hate Upworthy‘s title for this, but whatever. In 2010, I remember sitting next to my husband and watching Conan struggle with this speech. I desperately needed to hear his words doing that time. 2010 was a very hard year. 2011 was harder. 2012 was the worst–my mama passed away and I miss her every day. 2013 has been a year of growing and forgiving, and I’ll always hold dear to Conan O’brien‘s last words on the Tonight Show:

“All I ask of you is one thing: please don’t be cynical. I hate cynicism—it’s my least favorite quality and it doesn’t lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But, if you work really hard and you’re kind, amazing things will happen.”

Thank you, Conan, always for being honest, for letting yourself be angry, and for letting yourself let go.
